List Of Senators In Nigeria & Their Districts

The National assembly of Nigeria popularly known as “NASS” consists of the Senate (upper house) and the House of Representatives (lower chamber).

The Nigerian senate as the upper chamber or house is saddled with the responsibility of making laws and counterbalancing/regulating other elements of the Federal Government of Nigeria. This legislative chamber is headed by the Senate President who is assisted by the Deputy President of the Senate of Nigeria.

The Senate President and his Deputy are also assisted by some other principal officers which include the Majority Leader, Deputy Majority Leader, Minority Leader, Deputy Minority Leader, Chief Whip, Deputy Chief Whip, Minority Whip, and Deputy Minority Whip.

The Nigerian senate is made up of 109 senators (principal officers included) from the 36 states of Nigeria with each of the 3 senatorial districts in each state electing one senator. The Federal Capital Territory elects only one senator.

In today’s article, we will be sharing a complete list of these senators in the 9th assembly of the Nigerian Senate. The list will feature all newly elected senators from all states in Nigeria alongside their various senatorial districts.

It is also important to note that elections in some areas of Nigeria have either been canceled, declared inconclusive, or rescheduled due to various reasons best known to INEC officials. Areas with such occurrences will also be featured in this article.

Some senators whose elections were nullified by Nigeria’s apex court, The Supreme Court of Nigeria are not included on this list.
