NESREA is an environmental agency that was established by the Federal government of Nigerian on 30th July 2007. The primary aim of this agency is to ensure a cleaner, safer and healthier environment for Nigerians and Non-Nigerians living in the country.

They are also responsible for the protection and development of the environment, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development of Nigeria’s natural resources.

NESERA is also a law enforcement agency in Nigeria. Some of the activities which they are tasked to prevent are illegal trade of wildlife species, illegal discharge of electronic waste, illegal discharge of toxic wastes, and other environmental-related crimes.

NESREA Salary Structure

The worker/official in this earns an average of ₦60,000₦90,000 monthly at an entry-level.

However, higher officials will take home salaries that are bigger than the figures stated above monthly and this is a known fact. The NESREA salary structure is also a good one when compared to the salary of various federal agencies.

In the quest to ensure good environmental governance at the state level, and also the creation of employment opportunities for Nigerians, this agency currently has 6 Zonal Headquarters and 22 State Offices in the country.

These offices are grouped into 6 geopolitical zones in Nigeria. These offices are as follows:
