FUTO is one of the first Universities of Technology in Nigeria and was established in 1980. It is located in Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria, and is one of the go-to schools in Nigeria for most science courses.

This university like other federal universities in Nigeria has a relatively low tuition fee structure compared to its counterparts in the state and private levels of higher education in Nigeria.

Below is the detailed breakdown of FUTO school fees schedule for the 2021/2022 session. The fees are detailed by their various departments and not schools.

NB: All students in the Federal University of Technology, Owerri pay the same school fees except students of Geology, Architecture, and Optometry. Students who offer these courses pay slightly higher than the other students in FUTO.

Old Students (200 – 400 Level)

  • Optometry – ₦42,300

Old Students (500 Level)

Other Fees

  • Acceptance Fees (For new students only) – ₦40,000
  • Hostel Accommodation (Optional) – ₦18,000
  • Student Affairs Fees – ₦2,000

FUTO School Fees for JUPEB Students

Below is a breakdown of the FUTO school fees structure for JUPEB students.

  • First Semester– ₦47,840
  • Second Semester– ₦44,300

As a JUPEB student in FUTO, you’re required to pay a total of ₦204,500 for the first and second semesters. The fee is a sum up of all you need to pay like tuition, laboratory fees, examination fees, medical fees, library fees, etc.

FUTO School Fees for Postgraduate Studies

Below is the school fee structure for Postgraduate students at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri. The price shown below is the total of all you need to pay as a postgraduate student in FUTO. These fees include tuition fees, course registration fees, health insurance, ID cards, laboratory and library fees, etc.
